Theatre Daedalus Triple Play

In keeping with the ephemeral nature of theatre, the concept for Triple Play took form over the course of a week in December, and Theatre Daedalus quickly mobilized a cast and crew to mount the production in less than a month.  The resulting evening of original work, performed for one night only, is divided into three separate acts.    

First, the four writers will engage in a 24 hour festival – each playwright will write a show to be produced by the company's directors and actors all within 24 hours.  The second portion of the evening will feature a staged reading of guest writer Mike Geither's new work, It's Okay to Cry: A History of Cleveland Baseball.  Told from the point of view of a long-suffering Indians fan, It's Okay to Cry explores the joy of loving a perennial loser, and the loss of loved ones in life.  Rounding out the showcase is our third act, Thumper's Café, a one-act play written in collaboration by the Daedalus playwrights.  Set in a harborside cafe in Southern Maine, Thumper's Café weaves intersecting stories of life's endings, transitions, and beginnings.
